How to Manage Affiliate Pixels

This article will cover:

What Are Affiliate Pixels?

Affiliate pixels allow your partners to track the conversions and events from their traffic back to a tracking/reporting platform of their own. The pixels they provide can be browser-based such as an iFrame, JavaScript, or Image pixel, or they can be a server-to-server Postback URL.

How To Place Affiliate Pixels On Campaigns

To enable your affiliate to track the default conversion/install/lead on a single offer, their pixel will need to be placed on the corresponding campaign card.

To place a campaign pixel for your affiliate, follow these steps:

  1. Open the Campaign card

  2. Click on the Pixels sub tab

  3. Paste HTML pixels into the Pixel field and/or paste a server-to-server postback into the Postback URL field

  4. Click Save

How To Place Affiliate Pixels On Events

If the offer has multiple conversions/events configured, and the affiliate would like to track each action separately, a pixel can be placed for each available (published) event.

To place an event pixel for your affiliate, follow these steps:

  1. Open the Campaign card

  2. Click on the Events tab

  3. Click the Event Name

  4. Scroll down to place your affiliate’s HTML pixel in the Pixel field and/or paste a server-to-server URL into the Postback URL field

  5. Click Save

How To Place A Global Affiliate Pixel

In some cases, the affiliate may only provide you with one pixel, commonly referred to as a global pixel, to track the default conversion/install/lead across multiple offers. To support an affiliate global pixel, you will first need to enable the functionality.

To enable global pixels, follow these steps:

  1. Click the Setup main tab

  2. Click Settings

  3. Click Tracking Settings

  4. Tick the box titled Global Pixels

  5. Click Save

To place a global pixel for your affiliate, follow these steps:

  1. Open the Affiliate card

  2. Click on the Pixels sub tab

  3. Paste HTML pixels into the Pixel field and/or paste a server-to-server postback into the Postback URL field

  4. Click Save

Note:

Global pixels can not be placed through the Affiliate Portal. They can only be placed through the Admin Portal.

How Affiliates Can Place Pixels Through The Affiliate Portal

Some affiliates may prefer to place their own pixels from within the Affiliate portal. By default, this functionality is enabled but can be disabled in the Affiliate Portal global settings.

For affiliates to place their own campaign pixel on an offer that does not have events, follow these steps:

  1. Open the Offer card

  2. Click on the Testing & Tracking tab

  3. Paste a HTML pixel in the Pixel field and/or paste a server-to-server URL into the Postback URL field

  4. Click Save

For affiliates to place their own campaign or event pixels on an offer that has events , follow these steps:

  1. Open the Offer card

  2. Click on the Testing & Tracking tab

  3. Click Edit Pixel next to the conversion/event

  4. Paste a HTML pixel in the Pixel field and/or paste a server-to-server URL into the Postback URL field

  5. Click Save

Note:

Affiliates often require certain data to be passed on their campaign pixel. Before setting this pixel live, you may need to configure the pixel to include CAKE tokens to accomplish this.

The list of available tokens for affiliate pixels can be found here.
